In-Laws and a Recipe

I know some absolutely hate their in laws. But, I don't. Tony's parents, Mike and Bonnie have always treated me kindly. I will never forget the first time I ate a meal with them. I laughed so hard I couldn't eat. That was just a glimpse at what was to come. I was so shy then but over time I got used to them and boy have I had fun. Shopping with Bonnie, fishing with Tony and Mike, watching them play with the kids, and spending vacations with them. Such a blessing. The most favorite thing I love about them is they put the Lord first. Mike is a preacher and Bonnie teaches or whatever she can to help out. When they lived close by Bonnie took the kids to at least 3 or 4 bible schools each year all the while volunteering at each one. Now when we visit thier home on vacation they invite us to church and church outings.

So for Day 20 I say....Thank you Lord for my in-laws. November Thank You Lord challenge.

The bible says in Mathew 10:34-39  37 He that loveth father or mother more than me is not worthy of me: and he that loveth son or daughter more than me is not worthy of me.

I love everyone in my family and Tony's but my Lord comes first. When we put God first everything falls into place.

One of the things Bonnie taught me was to make those wonderful Christmas cookies and candies she always makes. Here is just one of the many treats.

Peppermint Patties
You can also use other flavors such as orange or raspberry

Ingredients:
1 lb sugar
3 tbsp butter, softened
2 1/2 tsp peppermint extract
1/2 tsp vanilla extract
1/4 c evaporated milk
2 c (12 oz) semi-sweet chocolate chips
1/2 block of wax, grated or wax pellets

In a bowl, combine powdered sugar, butter and flavorings. Add milk and blend well. Roll into 1 inch balls and place on waxed paper-lined cookie sheet. Chill for 20 mins. Flatten with a fork or glass about 1/4 inch thickness; chill for 30 mins. In double broiler or microwave- safe bowl, melt chocolate chips and wax till smooth. Dip patties in the mixture using a fork. Place back on wax paper to harden and freeze for a short while. Makes around 50-60.

May God Bless you on your journey.

  1. What a blessing to have such wonderful in-laws!!

I've been married to my husband for 10 years, and it has been a rough 10 years as far as in-laws go (for me and my husband).

Treasure your family and the memories you make!

    Blessings!
