One of the main reasons I'm not on Facebook is that I feel it encourages people to spend too much time focusing on themselves. Many people (especially young girls) pour countless hours into crafting their image through pictures, etc. and comparing themselves to other people's lives - time that could be spent focused on God, rather than vanity. Along the same lines, I also think fbook plays to people's insecurities, increasing anxiety about social things, etc. However, I think you're 100% right - how we use fbook (and the limits we put on ourselves and others) is completely up to us.
