Matthew 16:24-27
24 Then said Jesus unto his disciples, If any man will come after me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross, and follow me.
25 For whosoever will save his life shall lose it: and whosoever will lose his life for my sake shall find it.
26 For what is a man profited, if he shall gain the whole world, and lose his own soul? or what shall a man give in exchange for his soul?
27 For the Son of man shall come in the glory of his Father with his angels; and then he shall reward every man according to his works.
You see we are to think about what God wants in our lives. not what we want all the time. I have a hard time out of this one right now cause I keep enjoying too much "fun" and not keeping my priorities straight. So many times I have sat down for a break and got caught up in a book, facebook, or chatting with friends.
When It says let him deny himself, and take up his cross, and follow me that means we are to stop doing all those things we did before we were saved and ask God what he wants us to do. We may get some weird looks when we choose not to go back to our old habits but don't worry. It's better to walk with God than to walk alone.
Here's how to deny yourself and follow Christ. Start by praying and telling God you want to surrender your life to him and you need his help to go through it. Ask him to make you aware of those areas you need to work on. Focus on following in Jesus' footsteps.
May God Bless you on your journey.
