I was told by someone that facebook itself was the devil. This made me think... Is it really? Well, here is my honest opinion. Facebook can be a good thing when used properly. Such as witnessing or sharing pictures with grandma.
2 Corinthians 5:20 Now then we are ambassadors for Christ, as though God did beseech you by us: we pray you in Christ's stead, be ye reconciled to God.
On the other hand facebook can be used in a bad way. I recently made a change on my personal facebook. I woke up every morning scrolling through statuses and picture
updates of my family and friends. Occasionally it was littered with
negative comments of someone, half naked pics, cursing and more. Seemed
like it was always the same people posting this stuff. I decided I had
enough. I believe you
should set an example for others. But when you repeatedly have to weed
through it gets discouraging and frustrating. I unfriended and prayed for each of them.
It's up to us to use our resources the way God intended.
If someone wanted to say facebook is the devil then so would all the social networks, media, telephone, computer, emails, instant messenger, and so on. Its up to us to choose whether our personal space will be used for good or evil.
May God Bless you on your journey.

Hi, I just found your blog through Faith Messenger :) This post really caught my attention because I don't have a Facebook account, but I really agree with you about it being up to us how our personal space is used. One of the main reasons I'm not on Facebook is that I feel it encourages people to spend too much time focusing on themselves. Many people (especially young girls) pour countless hours into crafting their image through pictures, etc. and comparing themselves to other people's lives - time that could be spent focused on God, rather than vanity. Along the same lines, I also think fbook plays to people's insecurities, increasing anxiety about social things, etc. However, I think you're 100% right - how we use fbook (and the limits we put on ourselves and others) is completely up to us. Thanks for posting! Looking fwd to exploring more of your blog! :)
