Biblical Goals For The New Year

As I have told you all before I hate making resolutions. I wind up exercising regularly for a week. Then, give up altogether. This year I thought of making biblical goals for myself with scripture reference.

Matthew 6: 33 But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you.

I wrote down scriptures that I want to personally work on and I came up with this:

  1. Put God first in everything. Matthew 6:33
  2. Study his word and teach it. Deuteronomy 11:18-23
  3. Continue to find ways to be a better homemaker. Prov 31
  4. Train our kids the way they should go. Proverbs 22:6 & Titus 2
  5. To continue to let God correct me. John 15: 2 & Romans 12:2
  6. Be an example for others. 1 Timothy 4:12
  7. Think positive when things aren't going the way I like. Philippians 4:6,8 & Proverbs 17:22
  8. Be content. Philippians 4:11

Psalms 119:105 says "Thy word is a lamp unto my feet, and a light unto my path."

So how can we go wrong if we go by God's word? We can't

What are your goals for 2014? Please share.

May God Bless you on your journey.

Goals

goals - roadmap.ashx

While going on our 6 hour drive to my inlaws I read a book. The Good Wife's Guide: Embracing Your Role As A Help Meet  I jotted down notes and came up with some goals for this year. Seems like every year I make resolutions and don't keep them. So, this year I'm renaming them Goals. The book gave me one of those light bulb moments, where you go this all makes since.

Here is the goals I came up with.

2013 Goals
I Will make sure God stays 1st in my life and teach my kids to do the same.
I Will seek God's approval not others.
I Will study the Bible more and hide its words in my heart.
I Will put others before myself.
I Will be the wife my husband needs me to be by honoring, loving and encourage him any way I can.
I Will be the mother my kids need me to be.
I Will be a better homemaker.
I Will choose my words more wisely.
I Will try my best to set a good example.

While I was in deep thought over what I read God told me "Your Ready. " That's all I needed to here I knew right then I was ready to take on all the above goals. God had to let me walk through some trying times to get to that point and I am so glad he did. For years I kept trying to make myself happy, do things my way. I wasn't put here to watch tv, play computer games, or even read books all day. I was put here to carry out God's plan. To be the help meet I should be to Tony, a mother to the kids, and to be a good homemaker.  You see we need to show our appreciation to the Lord and our husbands for providing for us. Ways to show that is by taking care of those things the best we know how. The Lord gave me a wonderful husband and kids. How would I be taking care of them if I was setting on my rear flipping channels while everybody in the house was hungry? I can multitask but not that good.

2 Chronicles 15:7 Be ye strong therefore, and let not your hands be weak: for your work shall be rewarded.

I hear if you write down a goal you will be more apt to achieve it. So, I am giving it a try.
The words my aunt said to me months ago kept running through my head "don't just talk about it just do it" And I am. I am going to show my thanks through my goals.

Are you making the same resolutions year after year only to go right back to square 1. You can't achieve them by talking about them or just writing them down you got to "Just do it"!!

May God Bless you on your journey.
